Inspiring Young Explorers: iMars Mars Rover Training Program at SSRVM Bangalore South

The iMars Organization recently conducted an engaging and immersive Mars Rover Training Program at SSRVM Kanakapura Road, Bangalore South campus. This week-long initiative brought the excitement of space exploration directly into the classroom, reaching over 600 students through hands-on learning and interactive sessions.

From 2nd February to 6th February 2026, the campus transformed into a hub of innovation and curiosity. The program was led by Krishnamurthy Manjunatha, Fellow at Karnataka Science and Technology Academy, Department of Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka, along with the iMars team under the leadership of Subramanya. Together, they delivered a well-structured and meticulously planned training experience, conducting four sessions daily with precision and enthusiasm.

Hands-On Learning in Space Technology

A total of 613 students from Grades 4 to 8 actively participated in the program. The sessions focused on:

  • Mars rover construction and assembly
  • Rover operations and mobility systems
  • Fundamentals of planetary exploration
  • Real-world applications of space technology

Students were provided with specialized Mars Rover kits, tools, and training materials, enabling them to build and operate their own rover models. This practical exposure offered a deeper understanding of how robotic systems are designed for planetary missions, bridging the gap between theory and real-world application.

Curiosity, Interaction, and Inspiration

One of the most exciting aspects of the program was the interactive Q&A sessions. Students enthusiastically engaged with the iMars team, asking insightful questions about space missions, Mars exploration, and future technologies. These discussions not only clarified concepts but also sparked curiosity and inspired many young minds to explore careers in science and technology.

A Collaborative Effort

On behalf of SSRVM Bangalore South, the school extended sincere appreciation to the iMars Organization for delivering such a high-impact educational experience. The dedication, professionalism, and passion demonstrated by the team played a crucial role in making the program a success.

Looking Ahead

Initiatives like the Mars Rover Training Program are vital in nurturing the next generation of scientists, engineers, and explorers. By bringing space technology education to schools, iMars is helping shape a future where students are not just learners, but innovators.

SSRVM Bangalore South looks forward to welcoming iMars once again for more such enriching programs, continuing the journey of inspiring young explorers toward the vast possibilities of space
